Dear Katherine and family,
Paul was a wonderful colleague for me at USCA from the time I joined the History department in 1992 until I retired in 2008. He eagerly provided help whenever I needed it, and often went beyond what one would expect in that regard. We had many good chats about maps, census records, and USCA goings on. I hope you know what an asset he was to the USCA faculty and students.

Paul was always one of those "distant colleagues" whom you were always glad to see at workshops and conventions, and who made the encounters a pleasure with his personality, professional knowledge and personal interests.
