Funeral services for Mr. James "Jim" Allen Bledsoe will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10am at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. George Howle officiating. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, SC at 3pm. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St, NW, Aiken, SC, 29801 or the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge, 300 Old Whiskey Rd, New Ellenton, SC 29809. Mr. Bledsoe, 88, of Aiken, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Saluda, SC, he was the son of the late Lewis and Ruth Crout Bledsoe. After working the family farm, Jim was employed by Southeastern Shipyard in Savannah, GA during World War II. He worked on forty one of the forty two Liberty Ships produced in the shipyard. Jim moved to Aiken in 1951 from Savannah and in 1952 went to work with Du Pont at the Savannah River Site Savannah River Plant where he spent the majority of his employment in Du Pont Patrol. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Jim was a fifty five year Master Mason and Life Member of the New Ellenton Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching the Braves play baseball, and going to breakfast on Fridays at Shoney's. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Lib Bledsoe in 2003, brothers, Nathan Bledsoe, Lewis Bledsoe, J.D. Bledsoe, and sister; Lila Rogers. He is survived by his sons, Carl Michelle Bledsoe and their son, Jason Bledsoe, Bill Brenda Bledsoe and his family, Jimmy Patty Bledsoe and his family, daughter, Iris Donnie Carter and her family, stepson, John Valerie Cox, and their children, Angela Cox, Erin Bill Johnson and their daughter Carleigh Elizabeth Johnson.
