New Ellenton---Mr. James S. Greene, 73, of 2273 Williston Rd., husband of the late Helen J. Greene, died Friday, March 22, 2002 at his residence. The graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Southlawn Cemetery in Aiken at 4pm with the Rev. Rick Rogers officiating. A son of the late Robert E. and Daisy O. Greene and a native of Aiken. Mr. Green retired from the Graniteville Company after 35 years of service; he was a Certified Water Treatment Operator with the Talatha Rural Community Water District. He was a graduate from Aiken High School, graduate of Newberry College in 1950, and served his country in the Army for six years. He was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, New Ellenton. Mr. Greene was an avid gardener and was known as the ?Tomato Man? of New Ellenton. Survivors include his son, James S. Greene, Jr. of Summerville, SC; two daughters, Joni G. Comar of New Ellenton, and Deborah G. Williamson of Aiken; sister, Peggy G. Shaw of Columbia, SC; brother, Donald O. Greene, New Ellenton; grandchildren, Eric Williamson, Casey Williamson and Braden Comar. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
