AIKEN, SC - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Catherine Donovan Brantley will be celebrated by Father Filip Wodecki at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Gloverville, SC. Final prayers and commendation will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2017 at George Funeral Home's Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801. The family will receive friends following the Wake Service until 9:00 PM. Mrs. Brantley, age 100, of Aiken, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017, with family members at her side. Born in Saluda County, SC, a daughter of the late John Clancey Donovan and the late Carrie Forrest Donovan, she was a life-long area resident and a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brantley was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Elvis Brantley; and four sisters, Cecilia Murphy, Margaret Arthur, Emmaline Brantley, and Agnes Ford. Survivors include three sons, Raymond Randolph Brantley (Shirley), Greenville, SC, John Thomas Brantley, and James Lewis Brantley (Toni), all of Aiken, SC; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 2429 Augusta Rd., Gloverville, SC 29829.
