Funeral services for Mr. Bassil E. Richburg will be held Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC, with Pastor Randy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, New Ellenton, SC. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Mr. Richburg, 77, of New Ellenton, SC, husband of Virginia McNeill Richburg, died Thursday, morning, October 16, 2003 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Clarendon County, SC, he was a son of the late Oscar Pinckney Richburg, Sr. and the late Sue Richbourg Richburg and had lived in New Ellenton, SC, for the last forty-years where he as a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and retired from S.R.P. in 1984 after thirty-one years of service.
In addition to his wife Virginia McNeill Richburg, a daughter, Sheila O?Brien and her husband, Michael, Newport, NC; brother, Oscar P. Richburg, Jr., Georgetown, SC; sisters, Lila Jean Richburg, Colleen Kennedy, and Dorothy Sue Richburg, all of Manning, SC; and grandchildren, Jocelyn Renee Medlin, Kristin Clare Medlin, and Charles Robert Medlin, survive.
