Margaret Edwards Abercrombie died Monday Dec. 3rd, 2007 at the beautiful age of 89. Margaret was born in Rome, Georgia, the youngest of five children. Margaret moved to Greenville, SC with her husband Eugene Douglas Abercrombie in 1956. She dedicated 25 years of her career to Furman University where she retired in 1991 as the well known ?Mrs. A?. Margaret was a sincere and valuable friend. She cherished her family and treasured her friendships. Through her quick wit, generosity, wisdom and personal relationships, she inspired many people. She is survived by her children Mike Abercrombie, of Ft. Collins, Co and Mike and Julie Phillips of Aiken, SC, six grandchildren Kirk & Keith Abercrombie of Colorado, Valerie and Tal Askins of Charleston, SC, Matthew Phillips of Mauldin, SC and John Michael Phillips of Aiken, SC and one great grandson, Talmage Askins of Charleston, SC. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, Greenville, on December 14, 2007 11:00am. Internment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. Margaret?s heart desire was to help build a school for the orphans in Haiti. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions to be sent to: El Shaddai Ministries International, 13651 Biscayne River Drive, Miami, FL 31161 in her memory.
