Obituary of Essie Louise Adams

Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Lou Adams will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery in Savannah, GA at 4:30pm. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm tonight at the funeral home. Essie completed life's journey and entered into eternal rest with Jesus Christ, her Lord on April 23, 2008. Mrs. Essie Lou Adams, age 79, of Aiken, SC. Loving wife of the late David Preston Adams and the daughter of the late Curtis and Lena Jane Chavis. She is survived by a son, David P. Karen Adams, Jr., two daughters, Joyce E. Maurice Beharry and Linda L. Adams, both of Aiken, SC; and four grandchildren and four great-grand children, three sisters Lena Mae Robert Smith of Wagener SC; Minnie Rae Fayette Baughman of Ringgold GA; Hazel Marie Denzil Baughman of Ridge Spring SC; and one brother Bazil Vernie Thelma Chavis of Savannah GA. She was predeceased by a sister Judy Lou Oswell and a brother Curtis Haskell Chavis. She was born in Orangeburg County. She worked in the early 50's at SRS Canteen Service and worked in the restaurant industry for approximately forty years. Essie was a devout Christian and loved gardening, raising chickens and swine. After she retired she loved babysitting and getting involved with raising her grandchildren. She spent her final six years in the Azalea Woods nursing home of Aiken S.C. and many thanks for the wonderful care by all of the staff there. She will be truly missed by her family and friends because she was a blessing with her life. She loved to laugh and talk with people. She fought a good fight, kept the faith and has entered into the joys of the Lord that she so long yearned for, with other family and friends.
