AIKEN, SC – Juanita “Nita” Martin, 92, of Aiken, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at her Cumberland Village home.


Born in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Lowell Gross and the late Maxine Esther Corray.

"Nita" moved to Aiken in 1997. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Houndslake Country Club and Woodside Plantation Country Club.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over sixty years, Robert Cliffton “Bob” Martin; two sons, Michael & Mark Martin.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat (Jim) Estergard, Tavares, FL; two granddaughters, Amy (Bob) Patee, Tavares, FL and Amanda (Scott) Miller, Fairhope, AL; a great granddaughter, Emma Patee and a great-grandson, John Miller.

Services will be private and interment will take place in St. John’s United Methodist Church Columbarium. Memorial donations may be directed to Molly’s Militia, Aiken, SC, Salvation Army, Aiken, SC, or St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. NW, Aiken, SC 29801.
