Obituary of Lawrence Clyde Ball
Lawrence (Larry) Clyde Ball, 80, passed away at home with his loving and devoted wife by his side, November 29, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was a well-loved man by his family, special friends, and those he met on his journey of life.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, travelling, and watching college football, and was an avid University of TN fan. He also enjoyed collecting rare coins and star notes.
He was born in Anoka, MN and was the son of the late Clement and Betty Ball. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. After his tour of duty, Larry attended the University of MN earning an associate’s degree and University of WI at River Falls, earning a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts. He later attended University of Tennessee, Chattanooga earning a Master of Science degree.
He held several positions over 30 years in the manufacturing industry. He retired in 2004, as Director of Operations and Plant Manager, Wake Forest, NC. He enjoyed leading people and helping others reach their dreams. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, devoted Catholic and parishioner of Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Collette Robinson Ball, Aiken, sons Jeff Ball, VA and Brian Ball, NC, daughter Erika Ford (Jason), Summerville, Stepdaughter Kimberlee Howard, Aiken. Three grandsons, Edward Ball, Brandon Ford, and Lucas Ball. Two Sisters, Ruth Breezee and Nancy Stagburg of MN, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Robert Ball, MN, and three sisters Carol Hahn, Linda Ulen, and Betty Roy all of MN.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 138 Fairfield St., SE, Aiken, SC 29801, with The Very Rev. Gregory B. Wilson VG as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Mary Catholic School Stem Center, 118 York Street SE, Aiken or the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd, Aiken. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses in ICU at Aiken Regional Medical Center for their skilled and professional care, Enhabit Home Health and especially Trinity Hospice for their love and care of Larry during his time of need.
