Aiken. Funeral services for Miss Rena Idell George will be held on Saturday at 11:30am at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Rev. John Wertz officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Aiken. Memorial donations should be directed to the Albert George Scholarship Fund, 961 Trail Ridge Rd. Aiken, SC 29803. Visitation will be on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 10:30am until the time of the service. Miss George, 81, a lifelong resident of Aiken, died Thursday at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. The last surviving child of the late D. M. and Johanna Sommer George, Miss Rena was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Before retiring several years ago, she had been a partner in George Funeral Home, which had been started by her father. Besides her parents, she is pre-deceased by siblings; Albert M. George, Edward D. George, Virginia G. Gibbs, Louisa G. Phillips and Otto E. George. Miss Rena is survived by nieces and nephews; Johanna Gibbs, Aiken, Tommy Gibbs, Aiken, Edward George, Jr., Mt. Pleasant, Bill Phillips, Mt. Pleasant, Paula Rickerson, Martinez, GA and Jack Phillips, North Augusta. She is also survived by family friend; Henriann Goddard and caregivers; Irene Cummings, Bernice Hankerson, Edith Scarboro and Vera Wells and many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
