I met Iris when she was living on Cherry Drive, just down the street. I have many fond memories of Tuesday dinners at her house and sitting on the screened porch hanging out with Wallace (the first) and Gromit. She made dinner for the dogs complete with homemade gravy. The dogs were so loved and well-cared for. She had a soft spot for pets and tolerated the crazy dogs I brought over from Africa. She also had a loving heart for my son Gus and treated him so very kindly. We will miss our visits with her, sharing stories of the family back in England and the latest news from South Carolina. We are grateful for our time spent with her and wish Gavin and Lisa peace. -Sarah, Jason, and Gus

It has been a long time since seeing Iris in person. However I recall with much fondness her smile, laughter and warmth when we met in Iris and Jim’s home at Witton Gilbert.
I met Iris through Gavin and over the years have followed her journey in the US and also in photographs of her, usually toasting friends or laughing. Always with a broad smile on her face.
That is how I will always remember you Iris. Kind, fun loving and wise with a good sense of humour.

I haven't seen Iris for so many years but whenever I hear her name it makes me smile. We'd go back to Louisa Terrace sometimes after a night out, drunk as monkeys, and there'd be Iris and Jim, laughing, full of fun, showing us some dance moves with Gav being the dance partner. And all the pictures I've seen since she moved to the Carolinas she's had that infectious smile. Just a lovely woman, great mam and will be a huge miss to everyone who knew her. Time to get those dancing shoes on and join Jim skipping across the clouds.

You were always there for me Mam. You never lost faith in me, no matter how reckless and crazy the path was that I meandered down. You always gave advice which I didn't always take. When I did not, I usually learned some tough lessons for myself. You had a good and well-lived life on two continents and taught the world to dance. Now you are dancing with Dad in heaven.
