I worked with Al at Wackenhut starting in 2002. He, Cathy, and I shared a building together.
Al always had a story to tell and a lot of jokes along the way. We had a private joke between us about a Charles Daly 20-gauge shotgun. The joke to us was so funny we both laughed until we cried. Since then, every time I pick up that shotgun, I smile to myself. I held that shotgun on Sunday, the day before Al passed away, and smiled remembering our joke and thinking of Al.
Al was bigger than life with a heart of gold. A true friend that once a friend was always a friend. We hadn't spoken in about two years, but I knew we could pick up where we left off...laughing about that Charles Daly 20-gauge shotgun.
My condolences to all of Al's family. He spoke so often of Carol, Caren and the grandkids that I felt like I knew them although we had never met. He loved you all dearly. May God give you all peace and comfort in knowing that we will all see him again one day.

We lived in the same two story house in Bayonne for about seven years before my family moved just around the corner. His house was in view of my house. We played sports and hung out and we never had an unpleasant encounter. It was all fun and positive. Al was smart, thoughtful, talented, caring and much more. My most special remembrances will be the quality family that he lovingly nurtured with Edie. I'm sure this is the compliment he would most appreciate being the unselfish man he lived his whole life. So long, friend. See you in a while.

I go back 45 years ago with Al. I met him through Longbranch Police Department and we had a solid friendship for many years. I am so sad and disappointed that we did not keep in touch. But my memories of him will go on forever all the times he help me out with my firearms and just being a good friend. Even though I was a lot younger than him he treated me with 100% respect and introduced me to so many different people and showed me so many different things involving shooting. One of the most respectable, professional, person I know. And he was such a positive attribute to Long branch police department. He will be missed by many and also myself. God bless you well may you rest in peace. Cosimo Massimino

Al was the best friend that I ever had. He was generous, patient and he spoke the truth in kindness. He helped me get through some rough times. Al had a great sense of humor and told funny stories. There were pranks, too. I was in on the Melon Sight gag. I told him about a waking nightmare at his house; that became the story of the man with two sets of buttocks. I made spaghetti for Al, Edie and Caren once. I waited until everybody ate to tell Edie that I included venison in the sauce. She was not thrilled...
I miss helping out in the shop when he fixed, repaired and fine-tuned things.

I will never forget when my car got stuck in the snow and you saved me by pushing me out with your patrol car, only to get stuck again. We laughed and laughed and became instant friends. I will also remember your kindness when my brother passed. You were so sweet and supportive! I'll never forget you Al. Rest Peacefully my friend. My deepest condolences to your loved ones. Fly high with the angels.
