Obituary of Elaine Vreeland Gamble

AIKEN, SC – Elaine Vreeland Gamble, 82, widow of James Gamble, passed away August 27, 2021 after an extended illness.

Born May 4, 1939, she was the only child of the late Henry Vreeland and Margaret McDowell Vreeland.

Elaine was born and raised in Paterson, NJ where she graduated from Central High School. In 1957, she went to work for Little Falls Board of Education, where she was the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She met James Gamble and in 1961, they were married.

In 1968, she and her husband moved to Aiken, where she worked for Interstate Johnson Lane Wachovia, where she was the sales Assistant to the Branch Manager. In 1980, she became the Senior Assistant Operations Manager for Salomon Smith Barney, where she retired after working for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jill Gamble Hucks (Stephen); and her granddaughter, Graham Hucks.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 30, 2021 at 11AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville.

Memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association or to The SPCA.
