A memorial service for Mr. Dennis J. Gossett will be held Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 1 PM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC, with Bishop Don Graham officiating. Mr. Gossett, 85, of Aiken, SC, died Thursday, morning, May 6, 2004 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Matthews, MO, a son of the late Alfred Lee and Oda Mae Brumfield Gossett, he been a resident of Los Angeles for fifty-four years where he retired from the City of Los Angeles as a Steam Plant Operator after twenty-eight years of service and was a member of the American Legion, prior to relocating to Aiken, SC five years ago. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Gossett was a Jack-Of-All-Trades and very much enjoyed working with his hands.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Betty Deane Gossett, a daughter, Jacqueline Denise Thomas, and son-in-law, Gerry Thomas, Aiken, SC; brothers, John Richard Gossett, Columbus, MS and Dorris Gossett, St. Louis, MO; sister, Betty Ann Cole, Grand Haven, MI; and three granddaughters, Rebecca Nugent, Amanda Thomas, and Megan Royall and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Savannah River Cancer Fund, 111 Miracle Dr., Aiken, SC 29801.
