Funeral Services for Mr. Freddie DeVaughn Johnson will be held Friday January 24, 2003 at 2pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church, New Ellenton, with Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Marine Corps League, will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be this evening, Thursday from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Southside Chapel 3175 Whiskey Rd. Aiken. Memorial donations can be directed to the charity of your choice.
Mr. Johnson, 65, of New Ellenton, died Tuesday at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A son of the late Fred William and Carolyn English Johnson, he was born in Augusta where he had lived before moving to New Ellenton 32 years ago. He recently retired as a maintenance mechanic at Kimberly-Clark Corp., where he had worked for 25 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Thomson was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a member of the Augusta Genealogical Society. In addition to his parent, he is pre-deceased by two sons, Duane and Kevin.
Mr. Johnson is survived by a son, Darryl Johnson, New Ellenton, a daughter; Lynn Mahoney, Aiken, a brother; Fred William ?Buddy? Johnson, Jr., Augusta two sisters; Sheila Washburn, Chuluota, FL and Jeanette Williamson, Evans, GA and five grandchildren.
