Frederick F. Ferguson, M.D., passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2002, at University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be private. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Janis Toland Ferguson. Dr. Ferguson was born February 13, 1921, at Nashville, AK, the son of Ware and Wallace Carter Ferguson. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and of its School of Medicine at Little Rock. Dr. Ferguson was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a specialist certified by the American Board of Urology. He had been a member of the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association and the Society of University Urologists. He had served as Chief of Urology at the Hopkins County Hospital and the Trover Clinic of Madisonville, KY, and as Chief of Urology at the VA Hospital at Lake City, FL, and as Chief of Staff and Consultant in Urology at the VA Medical Center at Martinsburg, WV. While at the VA Hospital at Lake City, he also served as Clinical Professor of Urology at the College of Medicine of the University of Florida. He served on active duty as a medical officer in the U. S. Navy during both WWI and the Korean War. He is survived by two daughters, Fee Corum, Madisonville, KY, and Rosie Clifford, Los Lunas, NM, and by one son, Dr. Camp Ferguson, Augusta, GA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He had lived in Aiken, SC since 1985 and was a member of the St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
