Obituary of Jack Mullen

Funeral services for Mr. Jack Mullens will take place on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 3pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, with Rev. Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2pm until the time of the service.
Mr. Mullens, 86, of Aiken, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his residence.
A son of the late Robert Mullens and Hattie Mae Mullens and great grandson of Andrew Jackson Mullens, founder of Mullens, WV, he was born in the town of his namesake, where he lived until entering the Army. After serving in the Korean Conflict, they moved to Windsor, SC living there a few years before moving to Aiken fifty-five years ago.
Before retiring in 1989 after thirty years of service, he had worked as a security at the Clearwater Finishing Plant.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary, two sons, William Marshall Mullens and Jerry Mullens and nine siblings.
He is survived by two daughters, Betsy Walton, Aiken and Janice Williams Rena Clark, Aiken; three brothers, Howard Mullens, Billy Mullens and David Mullens, all of Mullens, WV; three grandchildren, Jessica Williams, Sherry Harrelson and Morgan Stringfield and eight great-grandchildren.
