Aiken---Mr. Glenn LeRoy Duncan,71, died Friday, October 4 at Mattie C. Hall, Aiken, after a long illness Mr. Duncan was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Clarence and Margaret Duncan, he is also preceded in death by his son, Keith E. Duncan, brother William Duncan, and sister Mary Beshore. He served in the Marine Reserves until June of 1948 when he enlisted in the US Navy Submarine Force. He spent 13 years enlisted and 11 years commissioned as an Officer, where he served as a submarine Deputy Engineer and Weapons Officer, he served on two submarine tenders as repair and electrical officer, supporting Polaris submarines overseas, held duties as a deputy Material Officer for Nuclear attack submarines, US Atlantic Fleet and Naval Submarine School , Legal Officer in New London, Conn. and was the Recipient of the 50 years Submariners award. He retired in July if 1972 and moved to Elmer, NJ were he worked at Salem Nuclear Plant and in 1991 moved to Aiken to and retired form SRS in 1996. A memorial service will be held 2pm, Tuesday, October 8 at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, with the Chaplain David Butler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private. He is survived by his wife, Betty Duncan, son and daughter in law, Michael and Sandra Duncan, Knoxville, TN, daughter; Saundra Duncan, Belfair WA, two grandsons, Michael and Christopher Duncan, and great grandson, Skyler Duncan.
