Aiken, SC-Funeral services for Mr. Arthur A. Korbelik will be held at a later date from the graveside in Bohemian National Cemetery Association, a Czechoslovakian Cemetery in Geneva, NE. Mr. Korbelik, 85, of Aiken, SC, husband of Jean Lawrence Korbelik, died Saturday, evening, January 4, 2003 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Milligan, NE, a son of the late Frank Joseph Korbelik and Caroline Rischling Korbelik, he had lived in Grand Island, NE for three years prior to relocating to Aiken, SC in June of 2002. A Navy pilot during World War II, he retired after twenty-one years of service with the rank of Commander. He was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross, American Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Air Medal with four stars. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked for ten years in security at Delco Electronics, Santa Barbara, CA. Mr. Korbelik enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
In addition to his wife of sixty years Mrs. Jean Lawrence Korbelik, daughters, Carol Ramey, Oahu, HI and Sandra Korbelik, Aiken, SC; son, Larry Korbelik, San Diego, CA; brothers, Emil Korbelik, Ashland, NE and Frank Korbelik, Superior, NE; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, survive. In 1974, a daughter, Linda Kreutzkampf, preceded him in death.
The family has asked that memorials in memory of Mr. Korbelik be made to Trinity Lutheran Home, 213 Laurens St., NW, Aiken, SC 29801
