Funeral services for Mr. Aubron B. Ashley will be held Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 3 PM at the Salvation Army Citadel, Aiken, SC, with Retired Major Richard L. Jones, officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Robbie Sharpe, George Glass, Chester Thomas, Stephen Thomas, Mike Bustamante, Merle Amerson, and Andy Amerson. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends Friday, November 8, 2002 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Ashley will be placed in the Citadel at 2 PM on Saturday. Mr. Ashley, 58, of Parkersburg, WV, husband of Mrs. Eugenia Walters Ashley, was promoted to glory, Tuesday, morning, November 5, 2002 at Selby General Hospital, Marietta, OH. Born in Aiken County, a son of the late Lonnie Ashley and the late Lottie Barton Ashley, he was a lifelong resident of Aiken, SC, for prior to relocating to West Virginia in 1991. Mr. Ashley retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglass after twenty-one years of service as a mechanic. He was a very active member of the Salvation Army, where he was President of the Men?s Fellowship Club, Recruiting Sergeant for the disaster committee, and was also a member of the Salvation Army Band. He had also formerly been very active in the Aiken Rescue Squad. In addition to his wife, Eugenia Walters Ashley, sons, Lance Corporal Wesley Roy Ashley, United States Marine Corps, Okinawa, Japan, and Aubron Ashley, Jr., Parkersburg, WV; daughter, Christy Ashley, Parkersburg, WV; brothers, Johnny Ashley, TN, and Larry Ashley, sisters, Mary Sharpe, Aiken, SC, Virginia Rauton, Ridge Spring, SC, and Eva Edge, Steadman, NC; survive Mr. Ashley. In addition to his parents, two brothers preceded him in death. The family has requested that memorials in memory of Mr. Ashley be made to the Salvation Army.
