Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Dove George will be held Monday, October 14, 2002 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, with Mark Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers for the service will be Deacons of Aiken Church of Christ. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 13, 2002 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. George, 97, of Aiken, SC, died Friday, evening, October 11, 2002 at her residence. Born in Graves County, KY, a daughter of the late Charles Franklin Dove and the late Alice Mungle Dove, she retired from a shirt factory in Huntingdon, TN, where she worked in the sewing room and was also a former Union Representative. Mrs. George came to Aiken, SC, twenty-five years ago from Huntingdon, TN. She was a member of Aiken Church of Christ and Pairs and Spares. A daughter, Julia Cobb Herndon, Aiken, SC; step-daughter, Virginia Stevens, New Orleans, LA; sister, Patsy Dove Pierce, Jackson, TN; grandson, Terry Cobb, Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Suzanne Messick and her husband, Joe, Aiken, SC; great-grandson, Cliff Dyches and his wife Heidi, North Augusta, SC; and great-great-grandchildren, Alice Rose Dyches and Christian Winkler, survive Mrs. George. The oldest of nine children, she was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Henry Cavender, Lexie Dove, Holley Dove, Junior Dove, and Thennie Cavender.
